New Life In Empty Shells
This is an experimental book design where cards can be inserted into the book to "complete" each page. I printed the pages of the book on vellum, which had enough transparency to see the corresponding cards once inserted.
The book deals with the gentrification going on In Honolulu's downtown Chinatown in terms of place and space.
Upon completion of the book, I decided to create an accompanying poster.
The background is made up of the cards from the book being put together side by side. I was pleased with how chaotic, yet strangely orderly it turned out to be.
Typesetting the title in large red Myriad bold seemed to nicely compliment all the intricacies going on behind it.
